![]() In the old days, a floor-sweeping mink was a requisite statement that said 'You'd made it.' Now in the age of bling bling, fur is as much of a fashion statement as the jeans label that you wear. How does this fashion trend for FABULOUS translate to fur? Well for one, there is lots more choice and two, furs are a lot more fun. No longer must you only choose between full-length sable, mink or raccoon or fox. Designers have let loose. Now they're making innovative shapes, weaving fur into fabrics like a textile, wrapping different colors of fur around the neck and shearing them short. It's highly likely you'll be buying more than one fur coat this season. Have a look at some of the fun you're going to have: John Galliano collection at Christian Dior's offers pure theater. For those who feel comfortable in kaleidoscopic colors Christian Diors furs are mad this season everything from a yolk-yellow neck ring to an Elvis-style blue suit with fur cuffs on the bottom of the trousers! Even Gucci goes for it with burgundy-colored pelts and wide neck fur collars on satin baseball jackets (remember those?) Fendi treats fur like fabric and is selling knitted furs that could easily be used as blankets (in an emergency!) Almost every designer had some kind of fur neck wrap mostly colored scarfs wrapped around the neck at Donna Karan and Michael Kors. Karan also sewed fur into dresses and used lots of fun colors (red, for example!) Bottega Veneta gives a sexy spin off-the- shoulder- wear-it-like-a-sweater style furs. It's going to be hard to go out in fur this winter without making a very bold statement. Bring on the Bling! |
