The men's collections were notoriously thin on fur - but then it is the mens Spring 2005 shows. Still, the line between seasons is getting more and more blurred. Besides a colorful play on suits, men's fashion was infused with luxurious skins from crocodile and snakeskin in shoes belts, shirts and yes, even bags! The leather jackets were paper thin as were the leather trousers and there were lots of leather trousers in these collections! But Robert Cavalli outdid all of them. He went wild with animal skins and prints. Think: a very rich Marlborough man! Cavalli's cowboys wore three-piece ostrich leather suits, tiger print shirts, and a wet-look ostrich trench. Luckily the ostrich skin was paper light for the shirts and trousers and they looked as beautiful as they probably felt.

Otherwise, Valentino was equally inspired with exotic skins –Ostrich, kangaroo, buffalo, pony, and crocodile. He reincarnated these into trench and pea coats, bush jackets, trousers, and shoes.

If what Valentino shows, goes, then black mohair trousers with croc loafers (no socks) will be one hot look for next Spring.

Oppositely, Gucci went for the rich hippie look but he, too used skins, namely for long dangling crocodile belts. His men looked like a lot of ex-investment bankers who had gone to retire in Bali or Goa. The caftans worn with crocodile loafers were an interesting look. By the way, the show also heralded a return of the Gucci loafer (no socks of course) let's hope these Gucci men don't wear those with the caftan.

Prada upped the ante on the snakeskin accessory by adorning the men's outfits with snakeskin slippers AND handbags. The luxurious fabrics in the shirts and patchwork patterns in the snakeskin slippers shows that as ever –Muccia Pradas eye doesn't miss a detail and she knows what men look good in.

But handbags? Yup. Gucci is showing them too. Metrosexuals, this is your season!
