![]() This is the final chapter to share our great finds from the ICFF (International Contemporary Furniture Fair) in New York June 2003. The most fun discovery was the lounge chairs and it seems that Danish design house Danerka takes its lounging seriously! Their sports car style, fire engine red leather two-seater sofa with hand polished 22 mm stainless steel frame designed by Thomas Stepp is to die-for. Its stylish and cozy at the same time. Also for Danerka, designer Morten Voss made the most stunning lounge chair called Softcell. The shape is magnificent and the cushions are upholstered in this buttery, creamy leather. Its so beautiful, Id be terrified to sit in it and risk marring that heavenly leather. Scandinavian Design has taken the chaise-longue to new lengths with their Pernilla chair (212 213 0009) by Bruno Mathsson. Be warned - this classic lounge chair is covered in sheepskin (or leather) and looks likely to induce some serious relaxation. But the Italian approach to lounging is much more futuristic. The link series is a high-tech sofa programme made by Comfort Italia. The leather two seat lounger is defined by its backrest - it goes up through a simple mechanism and when its up, it increases the depth of the seat along with support for the head. The seat also rotates 90 degrees so that the sofa turns into a bonafide chaise longue. And its great for two because each side has its own mechanism to adjust for whoever is sitting in that seat in chocolate brown leather and in rich black leather.(www.comfort.it). But when lounging in private, get the ladies sexy red chaise longue ottomon (by Weiman, 540-381-7745) called Lulu. The sophisticated chaise requires that you lounge in suitable style though- only dressing gown and fur slippers will do. |
