![]() If you're going to Florida this weekend to escape the cold, you're in luck! The winter chill is going to hit Southern Florida by Friday. From Palm Beach to Miami, temperatures will be in the 30's! Now, the good news - Worth Street - the shopping equivalent of Bond St in London or Fifth Avenue in New York is in the midst of its winter sales. You can do all of your shopping here - from Chanel to Malo cashmeres, to Gucci to Neiman Marcus. But don't miss Saks Fifth Avenue's sale. They have moved their fur salon to the first floor until the sale ends (and/or cold front ends) at the end of January. Saks carries mainly designer furs and has several Valentino coats in the sale - the satin trench with a sheared mink lining, a sheared mink with golden sable and two short calfskin coats - in white and black. You have almost a week still to take advantage of the 50% off price tag. Unfortunately, mens furs are not available but can be special ordered through the fur salon. Otherwise, Martha Phillips, the fashion maven's designer boutique is the only other Worth Avenue boutique that sells fur. They carry David Goodman exclusively - both his furs and cashmere separates. As luck would have it, David Goodman arrives in town this week to do several trunk shows. Goodman says, "I just lucked out, I had these fur shows scheduled but had no idea it was going to be this cold. The cold weather is rolling in for the weekend and it's just perfect!" Goodman will show his collection of high fashion fur coats, stoles and wraps as well as the Buonuomo fur and cashmere knit collection at Martha Phillips boutique starting on Thursday January 30 and running through Saturday February 1. Lynn Manulis of Martha Phillips says, "David has created a sensation with the Buonuomo line. He uses the best cashmere that you can get and trims it in a new exciting way. He has taken old-lady knits and made them modern. They wear like a second skin, travel well and you can go anywhere in them." Following the trunk sale, Goodman's finest sables, sheared minks and chinchillas will be part of Martha Phillip's invitation only fashion show of couture furs at Club Colette on February 5. Who would have guessed that the height of Palm Beach’s social season coincides now with the height of the fur season! Martha Phillips,150 Worth Avenue,Palm Beach, 561-655-0833 |
