![]() Want to look the part in Aspen this ski season? Its easier than ever to find versatile fur coats and accessories that will take you from the runs of Ajax Mountain to the bar at Hotel Jerome to the Caribou club. Unlike Vail or Telluride, there is no such thing as overdoing it here with fur! Starting with hats, Balmain haute couture and Michael Kors both did versions of the original Russian army hat only more elegant and just as practical! At the other extreme, LaCroix couture offered feather hats - hot pink, green blue and red. These hats will definitely stand out against the white slopes but they could be hazardous to your skiing- the brim is so wide, its sure to throw you off balance! For Ivana Trump style on the mountain, Chanels knee length baby-blue sheared mink is very fabulous and very Aspen! Otherwise, most of the hippie chic apres-skiers will be wrapped in Dolce & Gabbanas knee length multicolored tan/brown and white fox coat worn with a J-Lo beret and slouchy low riding bellbottoms. For those really cold nights though, the Fendi wrap around coat could double as a blanket. Men have more choices than ever this season. First, the original Russian hat is a sure bet for men and always in style. Available at (www.balticrim.com). Sean Jeans black fur lined and fur collared leather bomber is warm, ski-worthy and looks very hip. But the most popular outfit on the slopes this ski season will be the updated versions of the trusty old Parka. Prada or Gucci and Sean Jean all did beautiful parkas this season but Michael Kors white fur lined parka is close to perfect. He makes mens and womens version in white with fur lining and a fur-trimmed hood. Worn with his furry leg warmers, this is my pick for best Aspen outfit for winter 2003. |
