What’s so magical about a little touch of fur? A snippet of a scarf, a glamour girl stole or a mad hatter change a look faster than you can RSVP. As the holiday party season swings into gear, there is something comforting about knowing you can easily change the look of last year’s little black dress into this year’s showstopper. Just take a tip from these ingenues, superstars and divas. In 2001, they’ve issued their dictate for the red carpet.

But don’t take our word for it. In the last few months, star-tracker magazines like Us Weekly and InStyle have run special stories on the Hollywood fur trend. InStyle even noted that a few famous lovelies pulled out their fur stoles “while the beaches still beckon” and explained, “Because any actress knows that those photos of Harlow, Lombard or Hayworth swathed in a wrap of luxuriant fluff are unforgettable.”

If your look isn’t quite that classic, don’t worry! You don’t have to miss out. Just take a tip from actresses Catherine Zeta-Jones and Rita Wilson and opt for a more low-key scarf. If your style tends to be more whimsical and ironic (think Cher and actress Jill Hennessy), go for this season’s most fashion-forward accessory, the oversized fur hat.

And when you’re on your way out the door, finishing touches on your hair and makeup and suddenly begin thinking any of the above are a little too outrageous for your holiday party, just remember Jennifer Lopez’s turn at the Oscars sporting fox-fur eyelashes!

Classic glamour never goes out of style.
