The extravaganza of Middle Eastern princesses, Asian goddesses, medieval knights and something that looks like a bulls eye interpreted in fur and feather and brocade velvet and dripping with jewels turned the fall 2001 Haute Couture shows into a typically over-the-top e ticket ride of fashion indulgence. Of course, keep in mind Paris hosted these shows in July, well before September 11 changed our mindset and our eye for the appropriate. Since these aren't clothes most of the population was ever intended to actually wear, however, just let your mind slip past its instinct to giggle and contemplate these proposals in fantasy, from the bizarre to the sublime.
