It's official: holiday parties are upon us. It's time to bring out your inner glamour girl! Nothing makes it easier than a major, knock-your-socks-off, show-stopping, eye-popping fur. This season, whether you're going for laid-back chic or a formalwear topper, sizzling red furs and graphic black-and-white chinchilla go anywhere and turn everyone's head.

Chinchilla is made for the holidays, with its special-occasion pedigree and its incredible softness that makes them beg to touch (but don't let just anyone, because this is the most fragile of furs). But chinchilla isn't just the fur of dowagers anymore. Designers like Michael Kors have shown us traditional evening jackets, while Eric Gaskins goes almost casual with his chinchilla bomber jacket. Buonuomo shows us the relaxed version, as chinchilla trim on a superluxe cashmere sweater. Halston brought out a new twist on the stole this season, and Ekso injects youth into chinchilla, using it as a little vest/top with a matching barrel muff.

This holiday's must-have red is the most stunning in fur, whether it's dyed mink, fox, raccoon or even rabbit. The tones are deep claret or scarlet or crimson, and they're often generously striped or tinged with black for added drama. Of course, there is literally any style fur for any occasion to be had in these lipstick-shocking shades. Jackets and coats by Zandra Rhodes, Mark Montano and Buonuomo can be dressed up or down, while Christina Perrin's biker jacket begs for an outfit with edge. And if you just want an accent, there's Heidi Weisel's scarf of Randolph Duke's stole.

But beware, the following may cause traffic jams!
