Think again. Fur is anything but old-fashioned and simply utilitarian. In the hands of London designers for their fall 2000 collections, fur became far-out fantasy. Probably not a lot of people are snapping up Arkadius's fox-trimmed suit to add that extra roll around their middle. And how many women are marking their must-have lists with a mink halter top? Mass market, these are not. But they do make for good entertainment. Fashion must test its boundaries on a regular basis, and it's great fun to see fur a part of that process. So before you start laughing too hard, maybe you can allow Julien McDonald's spiderweb of fur on chiffon to bring out your inner Goth girl, or Clements Ribeiro's canary yellow sheared mink riding cap to transport you to an equestrian event. Who said fashion couldn't be fun? |
