The must-have look for fall 2000 is face-framing fur, the
kind that's dramatic, sexy and oh-so-flattering.
On this trend, designers, retailers and journalists agree,
probably because detachable fur collars or scarves are easy to
wear and offer the fashion effect of fur without the price tag
of a fur coat.
"This is the most refreshing season for furs I've seen in
years," said Terry Thornton of Neiman Marcus. "There was not
one major collection that didn't carry fur. I expect the Neiman
Marcus customer will find fur in almost every area of the store
this fall." For accessories? "Any bit of fur at the neck,
including fur scarves that were all over the collections."
The May Vogue also notes that pashminas are way out, in
favor of chinchilla collars by Prada.
But when it comes to fur accessories, always remember to
keep other accents to a minimum -- unless you're an Anna Sui
bohemian. Check out how some of the top New York City designers
did it. |
