| FAD, short for Fur,
Art, Design, is a new department of the Greek Fur Center.
It has just premiered its fall 2000 collection with
up-to-the-minute fur styles to inspire and direct Greek
manufacturers.
Haralambos Krikis, who designed the collection together with
his brother, Thanasis Krikis, told furs.com his goal was to
create light-weight furs that are young and exciting to wear.
Edie Sedgwick, 1960s muse of Andy Warhol, was their inspiration.
"The pieces are slim, sexy and can be easily mixed in a
wardrobe of a modern, fashionable woman," said Krikis. "Most of
them are plucked or sheared; some are lined, and some are
reversible. In the reversibles, the leather side of the fur has
undergone a napa treatment."
Color and fur-as-clothing are both big fall fur trends, and
these FAD designs embody both. Sixty styles include reversible
dresses, skirts and tops in sheared mink plus reversible parkas,
jean-type jackets, skirts and blouses of plucked mink in
pistachio green, orange and electric blue. There are also
sleeveless blouses and a tunic in dyed fox.
Traditionally lined furs include slim coats and jackets in
plucked, dyed mink and fox colored Prussian blue, canary yellow
and red with a touch of vermilion. Two lined blouses and a fox
short evening jacket, collarless, are dyed deep aubergine.
The FAD is currently working on yet another collection for a
show later this year in Athens. |
