If sensuously soft furs doubled with high-gloss textured leathers or rubberized silk sound like they're created to tantalize and tempt a body, you've gotten an image without pictures of Vito Nacci's 1995/96 collection. Yet here are the shots, direct from his exclusive November show for his own private customers. A seductive breeze is blowing in from Milan, and this is it.
For Vito Nacci, furs should be an everyday luxury, integrated into the wardrobe as an alternative to fabrics. In this way, they become less of a "dream" and acquire up-to-the-minute shapes, easy and dynamic. The body is caressed with narrow, simple, sharp and severe silhouettes that are inherently young-spirited, wearable and always lightweight.
Barely 13 years old, the Vito Nacci line has gained international acclaim, distributed through dealers in Italy, Europe, the United States (though for 1996, it hasn't found a home in New York yet) and Japan. The new collection will premiere in Milan in March, and designs will be featured in this year's Majestic Ultra Show held during the Mifur fair in Milan the same month.
Vito Nacci was just 15 years old when, following his family's tradition, he began to learn the craft of making fur garments. Enchanted by everything related to art, form, beauty and design, he studied architecture at the University of Genoa and, at the same time, studied cutting and tailoring techniques in depth.
At the age of 22, he moved to Milan, where he obtained a diploma in design at the renowned Marangoni Fashion Institute. Since then, he has worked as a technical consultant for a number of the sector's top companies in Italy and abroad.
In 1983, when he was not yet 30, he launched Vito Nacci srl, a company producing and distributing ready-to-wear and high fashion furs under the Vito Nacci label, with headquarters in the center of Milan at the prestigious address of Via Durini 11, which is also his retail point of sale.
Member of the Italian Chamber of Fashion, he exhibited his collection at Milano Collezioni for a number of years. He took part in the Emba Show and later the American Legend Show several times. He has received various awards and holds seminars at the University of Helsinki, in Osaka and Tokyo, discussing fur styles, techniques and craftsmanship. Today he is a technical consultant to design institutes and specialized magazines.
