Blue fox prices climbed from November at the Dec. 4 Finnish Fur Sales auction in Vantaa, Finland. The total of 155,130 blue fox offered sold at US$106.25 average with 100% turnover, compared to $96 average and 87% turnover on Nov. 22. Prices had dipped in November from September levels.
"The reasonable opening levels in November had had a positive influence on the fox market," reported the auction company. "The collection was of better quality than in November, and the price increases were biggest for good commercial qualities. Price differences between better and lower qualities remained big."
Hong Kong/China were the biggest takers, with support from Korea, Germany and Russia. The top lot of blue fox was purchased by Klondike International Furs Inc., New York, for Happy Part Co. Ltd., Hong Kong.
The auction was attended by 70 fox buyers from all major markets.
